About
My interest in psychotherapy primarily grew out of my own experience in personal psychotherapy. I found it truly transformative to participate in developing a relationship, learning to trust, being vulnerable, reflecting between sessions, and returning to process my feelings and my thinking.
I have a background in the arts, having grown up studying music, dance, and visual arts. I continued pursuing my interest in the arts throughout college. Though I studied the arts in college, I ultimately earned my undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Colorado. I found that I had a particular interest in micro-sociological theories. This led me toward my study of psychology. I attained my master’s degree in counseling at San Francisco State University with focused training in grief and posttraumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents, and supporting adults going through transitions of various kinds in their lives.
I completed a two-year postgraduate training program in psychodynamic psychotherapy at The Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley, CA. I have worked in three community mental health agencies in the Bay Area which have served parents, adults in financial transition, and foster youth and their families.
